Nicola Crick – Senior Client Manager
Brief details of your education and what you achieved.
I left college with four A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. After that, I studied Natural Sciences at the University of Bath for four years to gain my MSci degree.
What was your training experience like with TWP?
I was already part-qualified from a previous position when I joined the firm. I then finished my final three ICAEW/ACA exams with TWP. I studied with the training provider First Intuition, and I found their teaching style is to a high standard.
There is also flexibility with the pace you want to sit the exams. Overall, it took me about another year and a half to finish my finals to be fully ACA-qualified.
What do you like about your role?
I enjoy the analysis and puzzle-solving aspects that often come up when preparing accounts. When I am given a challenging job, whilst it might be difficult at the time, I feel a great sense of achievement after I have completed it. I also enjoy working with junior colleagues in my team to help them work through a problem if they are stuck.
Tell us more about working at TWP?
There is a very friendly and supportive atmosphere within the firm. You can be open with your career goals and know that your manager will support you and offer training course suggestions to help. You are also trusted with and responsible for managing your workload and clients, which I feel is a real positive.
TWP supports White Lodge a charity that is local to the firm and we get involved in a variety of ways to support and fundraise. As a team, we have spent time decorating and gardening at the centre, as well as holding a variety of fundraisers.
What career aspirations do you have?
The next step in my journey would be to become a department director, and I hope that I can develop my skills and experience to achieve this with the help of the partners.
