Accountant Achieves Professional ‘Double’

The Managing Partner at Surrey-based accountants TWP Accounting LLP has achieved a professional “double” by becoming a member of the two leading accountancy bodies.

Philip Munk originally qualified in 1994 with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has since become a fellow of the organisation (FCCA), a higher level of membership.

He has also now achieved membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), designated by the initials ACA, which denotes chartered accountant status.

As a qualified accountant, Philip achieved the ACA qualification by the fast track route of sitting a challenging examination testing his experience and competence. The more traditional routes to ICAEW membership take between three and five years.

Philip, who decided to seek the qualification to preserve the Firm’s status as an ICAEW practice, said that the ACA and ACCA were highly regarded professional qualifications, adding: “In many people’s view, they are exactly the same in terms of the quality of the qualification.  Achieving ICAEW membership was very important to both the Firm and myself.”

As a practice, TWP is committed to supporting staff in achieving professional qualifications with bodies including ACCA, the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT), the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA).
